The william lowell putnam is a mathematics contest for undergraduates in. This year"s contest will be written on sat. Training sessions for the putnam mathematics competition are run by the math department and are open to all students interested in mathematical problem solving. There is no obligation to write the putnam exam. The only require- ment is an open attitude, and a desire to tackle interesting problems in geome- try, calculus, algebra, combinatorics, and number theory. There will be an organizing meeting for the training sessions on friday, septem- ber 22th at 4:00pm in mc 107. Interested students who are unable to attend at this time should contact martin pinsonnault by email at mpinson@uwo. ca. Course announcements: today: 2. 2 and 2. 3, today/tomorrow please review 2. 2, 2. 3 and have a preliminary look at. 2. 5: quiz 1 is due this wed. (sept 20) at 9:00 pm. There will be no extensions or make-up quizzes.
