Called mycenaean culture because it focuses on mycenae (type-site; culture named after the first site where the culture was identified) Zooming in on peloponnese area, there are also other important places like tiryns and pylos, that are of the mycenaean culture (mycenaean culture spreads around aegean) These are the cities heard about in the iliad and the odyssey (mythological stories of the greeks and became the basis of education, known as epics) Epic cycles: same things discussed by exaggerated as time goes on.
