Document Summary

Generally named erector spinae consists of three muscles. When standing in upright position, these muscles are in a relaxed state they don"t need to work together since all vertebrae align on top of one another. When bending or moving (changing normal order of the spine), these muscles work to maintain proper balance and movement of the spine, hence they can be damaged during moving. Most motor information is transmitted through the ventral root. For deep back muscles, motor information travels via the dorsal root. Aid in extension, lateral flexion, and rotation of vertebrae. Tendinous intersections small tendons that create bellies (create six pack) Linea alba at midline, thick so that the tendons of friends can wrap around rectus abdominis and attach here. Inguinal ligament rectus abdominal muscles attach inferiorly to here. External oblique abdominal muscle most external layer, fibres run on oblique angle.
