Symptoms are very similar to viral illnesses esp the flu. Spread through close contact between individuals same house, caregivers, direct contact with bodily fluids and respiratory secretions (phlegm) Not contagious until you start showing symptoms (unlike hpv) Can take up to 10 days after contact with the person who gave it to you. Not going to be quizzed on what sars is on the final. Diagnosis hard because so similar to the flu. Official criteria is early clinical signs + fever + chest x ray that is consistent with sars. Mostly supportive treatment oxygen and fluids to help you recover more quickly. Index patient first known cause of outbreak.
