There is a linear progression for research. It is important to measure progress and goals. It is important to be systematic within the approach. Concerned with theory and measures of educational and psychological factors. One of the earliest standardized measures was the iq test - to identify students who required remedial attention in class. He feared that applying this uniformly would result in discriminations. Likert scales consist of solely five discrete points, more points could risk to confusing the individual. A quick product to use - helps to quantify non-quantifiable constructs. Mmpi was designed to identify problems that fall under abnormal psychology. Used by employers to screen candidates in the past. The rise doesn"t mean it didn"t exist before, but that we have more accurate tools to track these mental & psychiatric disorders. Administration refers to the format of the measurement. Qualitative - variability in type (something is different than something else)
