Visual information does not provide an accurate target representation for any period of visual display. The experimenter had a participant who had to point at a target. Experimenter guides participants hand to target, and guides back to starting position. The 10 seconds delay conditions is a memory guided proprioreception condition. The immediate and 10 seconds delay condition had the same level of accuracy. In visual domain, the motor system did not have access to motor memory. Proprireceptive memory is accurate for up to at least 10 seconds. Visual information decays very quickly and provides an unstable representation of target location. Location of response mediated via extrinisic (where you are relative to the object) coordinates. It is based on where you are relative to the target, therefore very hard to retain in memory. Location of response mediated via intrinsic coordinate. Came up with something called the forgetting curve. Came up with how we retain and forget stuff.
