Document Summary

Deep back muscles: generally named erector spinae, consists of 3 muscles. Ileum to costals, superiorly fans out across the ribs: longissimus. Ileum up the transverse processes of the vertebral column: spinalis. Ileum up the spinous processes of the vertebral column: extend the trunk, maintain posture balance. The dorsal rami: motor information is transmitted through the ventral root. For the deep back muscles, motor information travels via the dorsal roots - aka the dorsal rami. Innervated via the dorsal rami: generally called the transversospinalis muscles, aid in extension, lateral flexion, and rotation of the vertebrae. Rotatores: runs from spinous process to transverse process below. Multifidus: runs from spinous process to transverse process 2 below. Rectus abdominus: general ab region is rectus abdominus, separated by tendinous intersections, linea alba runs down cutting it in half, obliques, external, go on top of linea alba. Fibres run up towards the middle: transverse. Intercostal vessels and nerves lie between internal and innermost.
