Eld goal has a place where it needs to go, a set distance, etc. Tennis serve is different than shot put, even though its classi ed as an overarm pattern as well - tennis has a racket added into the mix. Open kinetic chain (or kinematic - used interchangely) - the end of the moving chain of segments is free to move (translate and rotate) e. g. baseball pitcher arm. Closed kinetic chain - one dimension of movement is constrained e. g. rowers arm or a cyclist. Starts proximally and makes a chain reaction to whip the hand as fast as you can. Everything goes at once - upper arm forearm and hand all at the same time - sacri ces speed but has major strength gains.
