Document Summary

In general, older people tend to exercise less. Females tend to exercise less than males and at lower intensity. Why hasn"t more work been done on looking at why people don"t exercise. Simple explanation: it"s not always easy to find the people you want. If you want to find an exerciser you can just go to the gym; they are easy to find. If you talk to an exerciser about exercise, they like to talk about it (all day long) If you talk to a non-exerciser, they"re not really interested and don"t want to be part of the study. 40 women aged 25-75 were chosen to participate in one of 6 focus groups, based on their age and contingent on their status as non-exerciser. A non-exerciser was defined as engaging in exercise activity 1 time a week or less in the past 6 months to a year. Don"t only want people who are completely sedentary.
