Terrorism: what does the word mean in international law. No one single agreed definition of terrorism. Usually the word is used to mean certain acts committed with the purpose of provoking a state of terror, intimidating a population or compelling a gov. or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act. Consists of 15 states of all others. 5 permanent members: china, uk, us, france, russia. Un charter gives security primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. Gives power to decide whether to use peaceful sanctions or forceful methods to maintain the peace. All members of the un must abide by the decisions of the un security council. Canada has transformed the un charter into canadian law through the united nations act. Governor general in council may make orders that are necessary or expedient to put into effect decisions of the un security council.
