Socrates- someone we know not through his own writings, we know him through discussions(that describe actual events) Socrates would look for the fault in the accounts people give of concepts- for the purpose of moving forward. Dialogue form- a literary genre the difference between a dialogue and a play is that a dialogue is a philosophical inquiry, more straight to the point. The republic-a soul needs to work through reason, emotion (honour), and appetites (bottom of society are people who are motivated by their appetites) which should be reigned in by your honour.
