The concept of sovereignty: supreme political authority unlimited by other power. Critical of large bureaucracy: small civil services (don"t want government to have a lot of employees) They think you a responsible for your own life (valorizes individual responsibility) Based on desire to create social safety net. Universal healthcare system, pension, public education, unemployment benefits. Right and freedoms not protected (don"t have rights to begin with) Complex societies composed of thousands of groups (use these groups and influence them for power) Role of government: mediate between different groups influencing for power. Sectional group (protect labour union -> promote interest of members) Cause groups / promotional groups -> promote interest of sets of other people . Nobody wins all the time; everyone has some influence. Polyarchy: smaller minorities promote and control different issues. Power is possessed by an elite (government, economy and the military)
