Liberal democracies: free & fair elections, universal su rage, high degree of freedom, rights protected, well functioning judiciary system. Illiberal democracies (russia- will claim they"re liberal: elections not as fair, less protection for rights and liberties, state interference/ control of media. Authoritarian regimes (china, saudi arabia: absence of elections, rulers lack accountability, rights and freedoms not protected/ absent. Nobody wants to be in uential all the time: polyarchy: in a pluralist society you have minorities that rule on certain issues.
