Words that sound the same will interfere with a list of words being remembered and possibly cancel them out (ex. Prefrontal cortex when damaged can not recall anything. Semantic coding store associated on meaning not sounds. Words that mean the same as the words you need to remember will interfere (ex. Consolidation ltp (long term potentiation) move things from hippocampus into long term memory.
