Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mind. Behaviour: actions and responses that we can directly observe. Such as thoughts, feelings and other mental processes that is inferred from observable, measurable behaviours (responses). 1. clinical psychology: study and treatment of mental disorders. 2. cognitive psychology: study of mental process, a model that views the mind as an information processor. Within one area psycholinguistics: focuses on language. (jumbled- word exercise. ) Examine -topics: consciousness, attention, memory, decision making, and problem solving. Eg: same information different ways effects to people"s decisions. Biopsychology: biological underpinnings of behaviour. (examine brain processes, genes, and hormones influence our actions, thoughts, and feeling. ) (explain how evolution to our psychological capabilities, and behavioural tendencies. ) Developmental psychology: examine human physical, psychological, and social development. (different parenting style: experimental psychology: focus on basic processes as learning, sensory system (hearing), perception and motivational sates (sexual, hunger) with nonhuman animals. Study how people influence one another, and social relationship.
