What are the major non verbal channels: nonverbal behaviour: Telling lies: pausing is one of a sign when people lie, disconnection in eye-contact. Major channels: paralanguage, facial expression, body movement/position, eye contact, interpersonal distance. Rise time/fall time: how fast to get up to the maximum amplitude and fall away from that. We more likely to read it that waybut not always the case. Facial expressions: typical emotions, may reflect other cognitive states, for example comprehension. We don"t need humans to do that (we can pick their emotions from animated characters) It is universal because people from all over the world picking up the same way . Typical conversation: 60-70% gazing, 30% mutual eye contact about 1-3 secs.
