At movies they saw people going into or coming out of violent ilm had a higher aggression scale reading after a violent movie. But people who would select a violent movie might be more aggressive. Often we look at the average i. e. ) When we look at a bunch of numbers, its called a distribution. When you are summarizing/capturing a distribution in a few numbers, thats statistics. Mean: average of the set of scores. Median: middle number when the individual scores are arranged from highest to lowest. These ^ stats, give you a lot of info on shape/ how they cluster around the mean. Range: diference btwn highest and lowest score. Bad because its inluenced by extreme scores. Also doesn"t give a good idea about highest and lowest score. Variance: (dont need to know how to calculate)
