Analyze the adaptive value of expressing emotions. Efforts to actively suppress emotions, especially anger, tend to increase stress and physiological arousal (automatic). Emotional disclosure is associated with better mood, more positive self- perceptions, immunity system, better physical and mental health: discuss the importance of managing hostility and forgiving others " transgressions. Forgiveness involves counteracting the natural tendencies to seek vengeance or avoid an offender, thereby releasing this person from further liability for his or her transgression. Forgiving others goes counter to these instincts but is associated with better adjustment and well-being. Decrease psychological stress, increase empathy and positive regard for the offending person: understand how exercise can foster improved emotional functioning. Exercise is an ideal coping strategy because provide multiple coping-related benefit : an outlet for frustration, distraction from stressor, physical and psychological health. Regular exercisers have increased emotional control and less emotional distress (oaten & cheng, 2006). Engage in aerobic exercise (eg. jogging, swimming, bicycling)
