Transgender movement has become part of the fight for sexual and gender liberation. Transgendered subjects have achieved cultural representation in north america and europe: tv, films, novels. Some issues around transgender echo those that defined lesbian and gay liberation, and some are unique to transgender experiences. All kinds of variation from gender norms and expectations. Susan stryker defines transgender as: people who move away from the gender they were assigned at brith, crossover the boundaries constrcted. Stryker does not argue for fixed identities. She"s interested in the mobility and fluidity of the term transgender: definition never stays the same; it changes over time. Many members of society have strong feelings and opinions about transgender body modification practices. Our culture tries to reduce the wide range of livable body types into two genders only: we are stuck on the binaries, we should make it more than just those two. Requires psychological evaluation before access to medical treatments.
