The act allowed for the surgical sterilization of mental defectives promoting a healthy populace while reducing cost of these individuals on the state. Idea of wanting to save money to make a profit. The state literally controlled the bodies and sexuality of citizens for economic profit. The act targeted single mothers, aboriginal people, eastern europeans, and poor people. This is an example of how the state regulated sexuality in order to uphold sexism, colonialism, racism, classism and ableism.
