Restorative justice: some problems with punishment and justice. You broke the law, therefore there"s a punishment. Deterrence: how to change behaviour, also criminals and those who offend, don"t think about the act they are about to commit. Rehabilitation: does it work in the criminal justice system today. Incapacitation: is a solution that re-introduces the pep trader back into society. Specific- logical, criminals do jail time and hope they don"t recommit the act again deters criminals from offending. General (symbolic nature)- how the law is set up for those who haven"t interfered with the law members of the public, example: bank robbery, theft. If you act more tough on crime, it"ll solve problems. If you break the law, there should be a punishment. Social contract- certain things that you can"t do in society, because we have limitations on our freedom which is something that we can do in society.
