Tone of the voice come into play when we make judgements about what people are saying vocalizations- Persuasion initial judgements are based on preconceived cultural knowledge rather than experience of a person- stereotypes. People w high pitch and soft voice are seen as warm and honest but less powerful. Extroverts v. introverts- extroverts- more uency- faster rate of speech, louder, dynamic contrasts in pitch intensity etc. , shorter pauses between terms, fewer hesitations. Very certain kind of male voices that will make people watch certain movies e. g. action movies. Women tend to end statements as if asking a question. Pitch changes depending on who is talking to whom target affects- Use of vocal cues are socially and culturally contextual e. g. talking to a baby in a higher pitch. Adapt our vocal behaviour to the people we are speaking to. Not all emotions are equally easy to read. Happiness, love, fear, jealousy- more complex comprehension- to make yourself better understood-
