Producing manuscripts and reading them out to everyone does not require page numbers. They do not have a copy to refer to page 150 in another book will be a different page. The idea of the same book reproduction does not exist page numbers isn"t needed. Printing press is a product of the revolution, but does not cause revolution. Guttenberg and others bringing it about were not aware of generating a revolution they wanted to preserve the world despite the technological transformation. Absolutely everything changes with the printing press. Not thought of as an invention but a utilization of a # of already existing technologies together: 2 components: 1. Movable type: combined to create printing press. Wood cut carve the image that you want to reporoduce on a piece of wood, ink it and cut it into the wood wears down eventually, but you can produce many copies.
