Always used mortality in a disease, then we are interested in it. Now interested in how much suffering is involved. Global burden of disease: study based on daly"s -> disability adjusted life year. Health canada says 9% of people in care have cognitive impairment and 7% are severely depressed. 1:4 teens who are disturbed sought out help. School refusal -> refuses to go to school: quiet as a child, was not a terrible toddler, parents contribute to this. Hypomanic: elevated mood, outgoing and extroverts, sometimes turns into mania. The closer you get to mental help the more rejected you are.
