Psychological test: standard measure of a sample of a persons behaviour. Tests are limited; the sample may not be representative of the persons behaviour. Intended to assess intellectual potential: aptitude tests. E. g. spelling, language, verbal reasoning: achievement tests. Gauge a person"s mastery and knowledge of various subjects. Measure aspects of personality, including motives, interests, values, attitudes, etc. Standardization: uniform procedures used in the administration and scoring of a test. Test norms: provide info about where a score on a psychological test rank in relation to other scores on that test. This is needed because psychological tests tell you how you score relative to other people. Percentile score: indicates the percentage of people who score at or below you. Standardization group: sample of people that the norms are based on. Tests are standardized very carefully culture, language, education, etc. Test-retest reliability: having someone taking a test, then retaking it in a few weeks.
