Even when people successfully change their high risk behaviours, new people continue to enter the at-risk population to their place. So even when we do help high risk people to lower their risk, we have done nothing to influences the forces in society that caused the problem in the first place. Many companies make money from high risk behaviour. For high risk behaviours for example teenage smoking or drinking,, unprotected sex, dropping out of school. Putting up barriers to prevent these things, for example legal ages, stop advertising. Primary prevention is reduction of rates of problem in community. Secondary prevention is early detection and treatment. Tertiary prevention is treatment and rehabilitation to reduce disability. Universal similar to primary prevention, interventions that are good for everyone in given population (see slides/chap 9) I meditation, breathing exercises, finding ways to relax, time schedules, time management, yoga.
