Document Summary

Forms of business ownership: sole proprietorship: this type of business is own by one person (although it may have many employees). The sole owner controls the day to day business operations and holds the burden of all legal and financial responsibilities. Advantages: the owner has complete control over the direction of the business, simplest and least expensive way to establish a business, simple to design and maintain from a tax and accountant prospective. General partnership: a partnership is non-incorporated business that is established by two or more people. If the management and entrepreneurial expertise possessed by each partner are complimentary, the overall capabilities of the business can be enhanced. Individual risk can be reduced and obtaining necessary funding may become easier: relatively easy and inexpensive to form. Limited partnership: one or more owners will serve as general partners who manage the business and have the same unlimited liability as sole proprietors.
