Success is derived from the way that those resources are directed & used from managers. See organization as an open system a distinct entity within an envirornment. All organs will have more resources than those they stated with. Just to remain in existence, a firm must have incoming resources to replenish those that it is losing. Environment consists of everthing that is external to organ. Environment is neutral: value that the env. Attributes to product and services must exceed the value of all resources transferred out of the firm. How does the external environment influence the mgmt. of the firm: the nature of how firms operate internally to operate successful. Dependent on the synergistic relationship of resources. Hierarchy of managers needed for company success & existence, within internal synergies.
