At the end of the occupation, there was a public all to redefine japanese identity ion th e post-war era, and a lot of the present identity was pulled from the roemote, ancient past. There was the intention to publish an-english book in order to try and popularize ancient japanese architecture within th emodern world, particularly in the west.
