Product of cell resp = reactants in photosynthesis - mode of nutrition: Rely on sunlight to produce molecules needed for survival. Light = most vital in the process. Chloroplast have thylakoid = stacks on each other and one stack = gram. Absorp spectrum = how efficiently a pigment absorbs photon. Action spectrum - wavelength vs oxygen production. Two graphs have similar pattern of heat because ability to absorb drives photosynthesis. The better the absorption the > the oxygen production. Pigments = diff in how they pick up wl. Carbon conjugation system - in all pigments. When photons are absorbed what happens: electron goes into higher level when photon absorbed. Excited state goes back to ground state = energy released as heat or transfers energy to another molecule (inductive resonance) In photo = thy = light to energy. Photosystems - large protein that capture light = exciting electrons.
