The extent to which a healthcare professional ( pharmacist) is involved in its sale determines its schedule . Drug schedules in canada are harmonized , meaning that the conditions for sale are consistent across provinces and territories. Napra uses only generic names for looking things up. Drugs vary in scheduling based on dosage & circumstance for use. Drugs have superscripts to denotate other commentary or schedules it belongs to. Ex: narcotics have n superscript to indicate it"s a narc. Some narcotics (tylenol #1) are excepted from regulations to controlled drug & substances act & classified as schedule. Naloxone injection & nasal spray were changed to schedule ii for outside hospital use. If schedule ii it can be sold without prescription in pharmacy (specific strength, specific indication & specific package size.
