The eighth lecture was all about the development of technology and the timeline of electronic devices in the health care system. The guest speaker serban dinca- panaitescu talked about his experiences with technology growing up. Simple devices such as a cellphone and calculator have advanced in areas such as how it s programmed and how it operates. A key concept that was discussed was mobile health because having access to health statuses provides real time monitoring of patients vital signs, direct provision of care and quick delivery of information. A term that was discussed which i found interesting was virtual health. Virtual health allows healthcare professionals to collaborate to each other and deliver care remotely. The video posted on the last slide which asked are smartphones the future of medicine was evidence as to why virtual health has its benefits. For instance, using fitbits is a common way of measuring your day to day health status.
