HREQ 1800 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Unemployment Benefits
Document Summary
According to research studies, the differences in earnings and the participation women have in the labour market are major factors in gross and disposable income. In other words, poverty rates have a great deal to do with parents", especially mothers" access to the labour force, the wages they receive, and government policies aimed to assisting families towards getting and keeping decent-paying and stable employment. In addition, the changing nature of canada"s economy is that house costs and living costs are way higher than the minimum wages people make in the labour market. Also, in recent years there have been substantial cuts to social assistance benefits and shrinkage in employment insurance coverage. As well as, some poor children"s parents have education that limits them and others whose educational credentials are not recognized in canada.
