Positivism = the law exists if it written and enforced. Legal moralism = just because there is law, doesn"t mean they are moral and should be obey. Billy doesn"t know evil, politics and strategies. Billy does the right thing in the way of the law. Claggart suspicious of everyone, because his view of people is always seen as dark. Claggart makes billy so mad for accusing him of mutiny that he hits him and kills him. Long subject and predicts will show up as whole sentences than just words: look for words and not phrases when circling, grammar book: 164-165. Billy is on a ship called, the rights of man. He is impressed = legally forced/recruited to join the bellipotent. Billy earns the affection of older sailors. He witnesses a beating and gets scared. He works much harder so this wont happen t him. He is always under the watchful eye of claggart for petty incidents.
