17 views4 pages

Document Summary

Lecture 20, review of key concepts, december 1st. The content on this test will be from lecture 8 all the way to the end of lecture 15. There will also be some content from test one. The inner membrane has a lot of folds in it that are called cristae: in this there is enzymes for both the kreb"s cycle and the electron transport chain. Inner compartment: it is called the matrix, this inner space is bound to the inner membrane. Outer compartment: is the inter-membrane space, which is the space between the outer and inner membrane. The animal equivalent of starch is glycogen in humans. Glycolysis: is the breakdown of glucose molecules into pyruvate, this takes place in the cytoplasm outside of the mitochondria, this process does not need oxygen, but it needs two atp. The initial atp is put in to allow for phosphorylation: an intermediate product of this process is pgal, which is phosphoglyceraldehyde.
