Clusters of dots which may be star clusters. Sequence of dots may represent phases of moon at different parts of the year. 13 dots near animal representing spring, 26 dots near animal representing fall (~26 days of lunar cycle) Ancient burial site - contains burnt + un-burnt bones, animal bones, jewelry. 76m (300ft) across, 12m (45ft) high with corridors 20m (62ft) long. At winter solstice (~ dec 21) at the sun rise - rays of sun illuminate passage. Today, the point when the sun illuminates the passage is 4 minutes later than sunrise this is due to the "precession" of the earth"s spin axis. Orientation of earth traces a small circle that takes 26,000 years. The result in our perspective of the sky changing over long periods of time. Most famous of ~1300 henge sites around northern europe. Built in stages over the thousands of years. Found when car park constructed in 1970s.
