Newton"s experiment s showed that color was a fundamental property of light. He devised a beam of white light into 7 colors of the spectrum. When he placed a 2nd prism in path of colored spectrum beam recombined into white. This experiment showed that white light is a combination or composite of colored light. Isolated color (red) sent through 2nd prism stayed red. Allowed newton to conclude color was fundamental property of light (see pdf for.
