The daily athenian life: it is about the tragedy of the human condition. Politica: all aspects of a citizens" life/things to do with the polis: citizen means to activity participate. Theatre is political: similar to law/courts in the assembly. Judging the drama in a completive context, and it was completive. Took place once a year, the festival of dineseia. (poets completing who was the best. Also to project the power and glory of athens. Festival was the largest formal collection of citizen 14000 citizen, and a special fund to allow poor citizens to attend. Judges of the dramatic competition were chosen by lot and it was ten judges but only five votes and it was done by draw to ward off corruption. Political event: aim of tragic theatre was to educate the citizens and listen to the plays. In essence, it always retold the myths of the past and the tragedies were retold and reinterpreted.
