The sophos, 6th century greece, thinking was revolutionized, Pre socratic philosophy had common characteristics, dissatisfied with homer, material with the play rights. A group of philosophers were concerned with myths. Investigation of the natural world rather than the gods. Pre socratics look at the world in a natural way. Heraclius, claimed all thing are influx, they change (plato) Permanadies, all reality is permanent and unchangeable. Anaximander, everything is made up of matter, the same substance. Anaxagoras, universe is made up of god"s mind, infinite number of elements. Democratise, universe is made of indivisible elements, atoma, building blocks of reality. They had differing views, they still had important common characteristics, our senses are unreliable. The pre socratics: senses can give rise to gnone (opinion) If you want true knowledge you have to go beyond our senses. The aim of greek philosophy was the clear grasp of the world.
