Aggression is widespread (aggression and violence are very common in our world) Aggression is defined as an intentional action aimed at doing harm or causing pain to another living being who is motivated to avoid such treatment. Aggression can involve both (cid:498)hot(cid:499) and (cid:498)cold(cid:499) components: the hot component of aggression is called hostile aggression. Refers to behaviour intended to harm another, either physically or psychologically, and is motivated by feelings of anger and hostility: the cold component of aggression is called instrumental aggression. When a hockey player intentionally harms another player out of feelings of anger and hostility. But also for instrumental reasons such as to help his team win or to get a reputation as a fearless player on the team. Provocation: aggression can be caused when people feel provoked by another person, i. e. imagine that you are having lunch on campus, and you are sitting there quietly reading and minding your own business.
