a. Intelligence was influenced by three factors:
i. brain size, the smaller the brain the fiercer the animal.
ii. brain complexity,
iii. education.
iv. Bain believed humans are typically superior in intelligence to
other animals because we have bigger, more complex brains
and because we are better educated. Explicit instruction and

i. Mind’s operations on sensations produce complex ideas and
are associated with emotions.
