Document Summary

Economic theory approach: another way to look at social welfare and social welfare systems is from the point of view of the economic theory that underlies them. In fact, social policy analysts would generally agree that without the theory of keynes himself, we would not have developed a welfare state in the postwar period. Some even refer to this period as the keynesian welfare state. : the keynesians, the monetarists, and the political economy theorists have fundamentally different views on the role of government in the social economic sphere. They also have contrasting views on unemployment, the causes of poverty, and the impact of social spending on society. The keynesians believe that governments should use policies to combat unemployment and to maintain the income of consumers. The monetarists believe that governments should keep inflation in check and not discourage unemployment.
