What is community intervention: what comes to mind when you think of community intervention, sometimes things like half way houses can serve as an example. They are ways community helps to reintegrate people back into society: neighbourhood watch is another, they become almost like their own police force. Thinking about community intervention: community intervention in criminology can therefore consist of many things. Community corrections (both security and therapeutic ends) Restorative and preventative approaches- examples of circle sentencing, victor offender remediation, trying to help people while in prison and when they get out to prevent crime and too pass it on to the youth. Helps people who are often at risk of recidivism. It can really help the people who really want to change their lives and helps them lose their bad habits. Re-entry and rehabilitation- very similar to other things mentioned, basically having the ability to help people and make citizens feel safe, this helps minimize the possibility of recidivism.
