Unlike the president, the pm is intimately associated with the everyday business of government with managing the policy making process and defending the government"s decision making in. The president can claim to speak as the voice of the people due to the vote into power but the. Pm is just a spokesperson for the government of the day. The fifth republic constitution might appear to make the pm the central figure within the executive but, in fact, the pm is very much subordinate to the president. The pm does have a lot of authority when it comes to day to day dealings with ministers.
