Internal conflict can lead to psychological distress. Objective personality assessment- use structured questionnaires with a strict scoring procedure. Projective personality assessment- use ambiguous, unstructured stimuli that can be interpreted in many ways. Person"s inner thoughts and feelings are believed to be projected onto the stimulus. Carl rogers- important components of personality are. Self concept- beliefs you have about yourself. Unconditional positive regard- knowledge that you are accepted- helps us develop positive self-concept. Believe that every person is inherently good. Self-actualization- striving to reach one"s inherent potential. Social cognitive approach-emphasizes how people experience and interpret situations. Person-situation controversy-question of whether behavior is caused more by personality or by situational factors. General expectancy about the degree of which we control our own outcomes.
