Speech is the most common way in which we express our thoughts and then we organize our speech using the rules of language. Speech was selectively advantageous in the evolution of our species. The vocal auditory channel of speech permitted communication under conditions in which a different channel would fail. Using speech allowed communication to occur at the same time that manual tasks were being performed. There is evidence that human beings are genetically equipped to respond to the speech signal. Speech, language, and though are closely related but considered different. Language is a rule governed communication system composed of meaningful elements that can be combined in many ways to produce sentences. Speech is the conversion of language to sound. Thought may be defined as an internal or mental representation of experience. Linguistic determinism the way human beings think about their world is determined by the particular language that they speak.
