Document Summary

Artificial intelligence- lots of different levels of ai. Google is form of ai, siri, but typically we talk about other things when we talk about ai. Problematic type of ai- a truly independent intelligence of human level or above (a machine that has a mind). Alan turing- proposed a test for seeing if a machine had a mind. Have a group of people talk to the machine and see how it responds. Now the standards are lower such as 25%; have been passed when the machine was pretending to be a very specific type of person. Experimenter talks to machine if he can"t figure out the machine is a machine then we"ve achieved artificial intelligence. Singularity- this is the moment when a machine will not only become artificially intelligent, it reaches self awareness. Some believe that it will kill all possible threats to itself. Some believe that others will try to increase its intelligence exponentially.
