Risk factors: gender: in childhood, more psychological disorders are seen in boys, other biological risk factors. Pre-natal factors that cause biological harm to fetus: psychosocial risks. A child"s head grows the most during their first year of life from nutrition and stimulation (ex. Kids born into poverty tend to not receive as much nutrition and stimulation/attention. Lifetime childhood disorders: adhd, autism, intellectual disability. We only covered three child psychology disorders. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ad/hd) guest lecturer dr. ballard, 11/12/15. Persistent pattern of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development. Onset of symptoms present by age 12. Some impairment from the symptoms is present in at least 2 settings. Not better accounted for by pervasive developmental disorder, psychotic disorder, or another mental disorder. Types of ad/hd: ad/hd primarily inattentive type. Formerly referred to as add: ad/hd primarily hyperactive type. Statistics of ad/hd: 3-5% of school-aged children are diagnosed with ad/dh.
