Document Summary

As far as muslims were concerned, the efficiency the quicknessof their conquest was a sign of god. For the byzantine it was divine punishment. Factors that relate to the byzantines and the sassanids. In the sassanid empire, they had gone through a rough period in their history (there were a lot people claiming to be the emperor), so this left them in a weakened state. At this point the sassanid leadership flees to the mountains in iran, but it effectively takes them out of them picture. So eventually they die out in 651 when the muslims found the last sassanid ruler: there are not a lot of details on this specific conquest, the reigning group of the sassanid was. The problem with this is that the muslims were there for ideological reasons making it harder for the byzantines to effectively do the type of warfare that they wanted.
