KINES 300 Lecture Notes - Lecture 25: Lateral Condyle Of Femur, Subtalar Joint, Ground Reaction Force
Document Summary
Inversion- rigid foot that is good for push-off. Eversion- floppy/flexible foot that is good for shock absorption. Treat femur and tibia as one unit trajectory is similar and they rotate in the same direction. During stance phase, the femur-tibia motion is mainly driven by the ankle. Early stance phase: femur/tibia internal rotation and ankle eversion. Late stance phase: femur/tibia external rotation and ankle inversion. During swing phase, the femur-tibia motion is mainly driven by the pelvis. Femur and tibia is a mitered hinge joint. Axis of rotation of subtalar joint: 42 of inclination to plantar surface. Inversion- tibia turns out, eversion-tibia turns in. Subtalar joint is transmission of our leg- can convert direction of torque. Converts torque in frontal plane to transverse plane. Knee flexion couples with knee ir, knee extension couples with knee er. Ir of knee- ir of tibia with respect to femur, er is opposite.
